Who will decide the winners?

We have already introduced the short films in the competition, but who will be deciding the winner? We present the members of the jury for the FFi Shorts – International Competition section.

Mária Ridzoňová-Ferenčuhová is a Slovak poet, translator, film critic, and theorist. She studied film screenwriting and dramaturgy at FTF VŠMU in Bratislava. She pursued language sciences at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris (2000 – 2001), where she obtained a Diplôme d’études approfondies and continued her doctoral studies in the history and theory of film, television, and radio at VŠMU. Currently, she works as a researcher att he Slovak Film Institute and is engaged in the dramaturgy of documentary films.

Barbora Sliepková studied documentary directing at the Film and Television Faculty o fthe Academy of Performing Arts (FTF VŠMU) in Bratislava. She directed the episode Xenophobia for the documentary series Biele vrany (2018) and created a piece about Viera Mecková fo rthe portrait series Ikony (2020), which focused on Slovak architects. Her feature debut, Lines, premiered at the 25th Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival, where it won the award for Best International Documentary Film.

Ricky Mastro is a pioneering Brazilian LGBTQIA+ filmmaker and advocate for queer cinema. With degrees and master in Cinema and Drama (École Nationale Supérieure d’Audio-visuel in Toulouse, France, University of Washington in Seattle, USA), Ricky has worked with the MIXBrasil website, G magazine, and organized LGBTQIA+ events. Recently, Ricky launched Mostra Queer Brasil, a project dedicated to promoting Brazilian queer cinema internationally, with its debut at Oslo/Fusion 2024. Currently, he’s working on new projects, including feature films Giulia and Tarzan, and the series Our Hood, promoting Brazilian queer cinema worldwide
